CERRO TORRE – Filo Sudeste, El MOCHO – Bizcochuelo

Hace diez días los escaladores eslovacos Ondrej Huserka y Jozef Kristoffy hicieron la octava ascensión del Filo Sureste del Cerro Torre. Partieron del Col de la Paciencia, llegando al largo más duro (7c) pasado el mediodía. Intentando hacerlo en libre uno de ellos rompió una presa y arranco dos clavos que estaban in-situ. Entonces decidieron escalar la fisura Haston, vivaqueando al pie de las Torres de Hielo. La mañana siguiente hacia mucho calor, caían pedazos de hielo por todos lados, y gran parte del headwall estaba mojado. A pesar de estas malas condiciones lograron escalar la variante Lama, alcanzando la cumbre a las 4 PM. Algunos días más tarde hicieron la segunda ascensión de Bizcochuelo en El Mocho, completando la primera ascensión en libre (7a+). 

Ten days ago, Slovak climbers Ondrej Huserka and Jozef Kristoffy did the eigth ascent of the Southeast Ridge of Cerro Torre. They set off from the Col of Patience in the early morning, tackling the crux 7c pitch sometime after midday. While trying to climb it free, one hold broken and two in-situ pitons were ripped. In light of this they opted for the Haston crack instead, climbing to a bivy below the Ice Towers. The next morning it got quite warm, and there was ice falling all over, and large portions of the headwall were dripping. In spite of the bad conditions they managed to climb the Lama variation, reaching the summit at 4 PM. Some days later, they did the second ascent of Bizcochuelo, on El Mocho, making it’s first free ascent, which went at 7a+.
